Welcome to Aperture Guys, a blog chronicling the projects and adventures of the Wood Brothers (Cam and Darren) as we explore our passion for digital photography. We'll do our best to bring you with us on our weekend warrior trips and provide you with honest insights as we expand our portfolio and strengthen our craft. We're also happy to welcome guest contributors to our blog, as we're not only interested in educating others, but learning from talented photographers like you!

Cam Wood

With a dedicated family life (a wife and twin girls - yes, you can feel sorry for me) and demanding day job it's always difficult finding time for my love of photography. It's the euphoria I get from capturing that "perfect moment" that keeps me driving forward. Photography has become an integral part of my existence. From planning the next weekend excursion to obsessing over the next piece of gear, I'm quite simply hooked. I look forward to sharing my adventures (and addictions) with you...

Gear of choice
Sony SLT-A99V coupled with the gorgeous Zeiss 24-70 2.8. This pairing has become my default rig for 90% of my shoots. I'm a firm believer that Sony is about to turn the industry upside down with its cutting edge sensor technology and minty fresh functionality. And if I'm wrong I'll buy something else....

Darren Wood - aka The Fedora

Travel with me as I move from hack amateur to seasoned pro. As I juggle home (family of 6) and work life (busy consultancy) with my new hobby I will navigate through the photography landscape sharing my successes and failures. From training courses and technology upgrades to sampling new photography genres I hope that my learning's will help those looking to improve their abilities as well.

What`s in my kit
Sony A900 (Absconded from Cam and sizable upgrade from Sony a330) with Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 Carl Zeiss T* Standard Zoom (could not withstand jealousy) and Sony 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Telephoto Zoom Lenses.  I am shooting Sony because of the influence of my brother, if I switch everything is up for review. Currently waiting patiently for new Sony bodies to be announced in early 2014, a full frame mirrorless is on my shopping list.
